 Brahmaputra – A story Retold

Pentasect Team’s many members were die-hard National Geographic (the magazine) lovers. We have seen those documentaries on Amazon, Mississippi, Nile or Congo. Our Editor’s one of the oft-repeated and boring dream is to have a trip over the river. It expands the mind while one looks at the winding river near Guwahati where mountains, temples, deltas all are being taken as the mighty river proceeds south. Here is our first engagement with this worthy son of a not so worshipped father – Lord Bhramha. Contributor Asutosh, a resident by this river and whose poems featured in Pentasect’s pixles earlier has provided this. Our sankalpa gets fulfilled.

London and Calcutta – Contemplation on a Novel

London and Calcutta – Contemplation on a Novel. This is a rumination on the relationship between these two cities, their intertwined destinies. Excerpted from Wordsmith Communication’s long and running project – An Intimate History of Bengal.
It was a happy chance that made me leave Calcutta on a cold February morning for England as a student. A week back, I went to Silchar flying over Bangladesh air-space after getting my one month old son entering our ancestral home at Silchar – the vaastu-vita where my father was born some sixty odd years back. The Family thus settled somehow, I came back to Calcutta and started into last minute preparation for the journey.

First,Second and Third parts of this article was released in November,Decemberand January Issue respectively.

 Editorial Of February

Pentasect has become six months old this month. We had few promised fulfilled, few remained unfulfilled. Many slips and many deliveries on the deadline. Overall – just like a six month baby leaves many traumatic times behind, we did so. But our friends remained faithfully loyal and interested in us. We hear from many new friends and friendly and unfriendly critics. For the Team – green and inexperienced, including the Editor – a great learning experience.
