The one-day workshop for Freelancers was conducted in alliance with Anubadok on 8th February 2009 in Calcutta. The feedback was good and we would continue arranging such workshops in future. We are inviting expression of interest for two of our projects.
Pentasect Team wants to enter into E-book publication business with special focus on Bengali. We have decided to break this up into two separate projects.
Project Showcase : In this project, we would be publishing e-books in Bengali from authors who want to be read and heard. The main idea is to provide a new, low-cost and easy to manage platform for authors in Bengali from all the Bengali speaking world. Wordsmith Communication would leverage its national and international network to market and promote the books. We will handle the project from the manuscript to final release.
For this, we need people interested and having skills in the areas
- Finding new authors
- Understanding their requirement
- Interest in reading literature and artistic works in Bengali
- Basic Project Management Skills

Project Books Review : We are interested to emerge as a respected reviewer of books published - online and offline in Bengali and English from publishers who publish for Bengali speaking readers. Our idea is to build up relationships with them and review their books and publish online. This would provide their products a very key access to potential buyers. Later on, they can sell other products through this channel.
For this project, we need freelancers having skills in the following area
- Good Relationship Making Quality
- Passion for reading, writing
- Having domain expertise in at least one domain.
- Basic IT skills ( handling ms-word, pdf and email)

For the first issue, this is ironic to say what’s new. Instead, in true spirit of Prodcon Model , we would like to share our team’s plans and challenges in overcoming them. This will, indirectly provide an idea as what would be new in future:
- We are finding most important challenge in Bangla font. Without XP with service pack 2 and Vista, Bangla is not directly possible to see. As an interim measure, we need to make Bangla viewing platform independent.
- We plan to have a cartoon section. The search is on.
- We need to have a photo section – few ones at that but that capture our essence of works and become an integral part of the content rather than a cosmetic veneer.
- We would like to have short in-situ and extempore interviews of persons. No solid plan yet. Suggestions welcome.
- We would like one of our in-house Content Writing Project – An Intimate History of Bengal – a Contributory History Writing Project over Internet, integrated into Pentasect.
- From here, you can suggest yours at editor@pentasect.com
